The Lord Mayor of Liverpool to Officially Open the Global Women Leadership Summit 2025

Liverpool, United Kingdom โ€” 16-10-2025 โ€” The organisers of the Global Women Leadership Summit 2025 are delighted to announce that The Right Worshipful, The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray, will officially open this yearโ€™s landmark event alongside Deputy Lieutenant Natalie Reeves Billing DL FRSA.

Taking place from 23โ€“25 October 2025 at the University of Liverpool and Liverpool Hope University, the Summit will bring together influential women leaders, entrepreneurs, visionaries, pioneers, and change agents from across the globe for three days of transformational learning, collaboration, and celebration under the theme:

โ€œLeading with Purpose: Creating a Lasting Legacy.โ€

As one of Liverpoolโ€™s most respected civic leaders, The Lord Mayor, Councillor Barbara Murray, brings with her an inspiring legacy of leadership, service, and creativity. A Liverpool native, Councillor Murray read Philosophy at the University of Liverpool before completing postgraduate studies in Education and Digital Multimedia Design.

Her career spans the civil service, education, community development, and local government. Elected to Liverpool City Council in 2007 to represent Yew Tree Ward, she has dedicated her life to civic service, education, and social inclusion. She is also a National Leader of Governance, a passionate advocate for lifelong learning, and a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from North West In Bloom. Beyond her public service, she is a celebrated poet and visual artist, recognised for her creativity and cultural contributions to the city.

Speaking ahead of the event, Councillor Murray shared:

The Global Women Leadership Summit reflects the values our city holds dear โ€” equality, innovation, and community spirit โ€” and we are honoured to have our City’s Lord Mayor Join us to welcome such an inspiring gathering to Liverpool.

Deputy Lieutenant Natalie Reeves Billing DL FRSA, a celebrated author, community leader, and advocate for social impact, will also play an official role in the opening ceremony, representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside. Her presence underscores the cityโ€™s continued commitment to supporting visionary women and fostering inclusive, purpose-driven leadership.

Hosted by Dr Sylvia Forchap-Likambi, founder of the Global Visionary Women Network, the event will feature keynote addresses, plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to empower participants to lead with integrity, innovation, and vision. The Summit will culminate in an Awards Dinner and Celebration on 25 October, honouring the outstanding achievements of exceptional female leaders and pioneers.
